In a dense and lush forest lived a lion. He was indeed very powerful, but he had one very bad habit. He considered himself the most intelligent and did not listen carefully to anyone. He would get angry at the slightest thing and roar loudly.
In the same forest lived a small goat. She was weak, but very clever. She knew that using your mind in difficult times is the best way.
One day, the goat was happily eating green grass by the river. Suddenly, there was a loud noise in the bushes and the lion came out roaring.
“Aha! Today, after many days, I have found a fresh breakfast!”
The lion said happily.
The goat was not afraid. She slowly raised her head and said with a smile:
“Brother Lion! Will you grant me a small request before eating?”
The lion asked in surprise:
“What is it?”
The goat said:
“You have yesterday's lentils stuck in your teeth. If you eat me, my friends will say that the lion is not fond of cleanliness.”
Hearing this, the lion was startled. He immediately said:
“Oh! That is very embarrassing!”
He quickly ran towards the river and started looking at his reflection in the water. He repeatedly opened his mouth to check his teeth, sometimes looking to the right, sometimes to the left. He became so engrossed that he forgot that the goat was standing behind him.
Meanwhile, the goat saw the opportunity and said to herself:
“Intelligence is always ahead of strength.”
She laughed and quietly ran into the forest.
After a while, the lion came back satisfied. He looked around, but the goat was nowhere to be seen.
He scratched his head and said:
“Oh! The goat is gone! It seems that today not my strength, but someone else's intelligence has won.”
The lion realized his mistake. From that day on, he made it a habit not to make decisions in anger and not to consider everyone unintelligent.
The goat also told this story to her friends and said:
“You should not panic in difficult times, you should use your mind.”
And so all the animals in the forest understood that
strength is not in the arms, but in the mind.
