Ramadan-ul-Mubarak's Importance and its Virtues

Ramadan-ul-Mubarak is about to appear with all its blessings, good fortune, and mercies. This is that blessed month whose arrival is a message of joy and a message of forgiveness for the believers. We should welcome its arrival from the depths of our hearts and thank Allah Almighty that He has once again granted us the opportunity to reach this blessed month.
How many people were among us last Ramadan, but before receiving this month of mercy this year, they departed from this mortal world. It is merely Allah's special grace and favor that He has chosen us for worship and granted us another golden opportunity to bow before Him.
Therefore, we should try with all seriousness to spend this holy month not in negligence but in worship, repentance, and turning to Allah. It is a pity that instead of creating a passion for worship upon the arrival of Ramadan, some people become preoccupied with the expansion of the dining table and the variety of foods. It is surprising that even in the month that holds within it the tidings of mercy, forgiveness, and salvation from Hell, our attention remains focused solely on worldly pleasures.
Just think! Allah Almighty provides us with sustenance throughout the year, feeds us, gives us to drink, and bestows His blessings upon us, but we often remain covered in a blanket of negligence. Then, in His mercy, He bestows a month in which provision has been made for the forgiveness of sins of the entire year, in which the best opportunity for remembrance of Allah and recitation of the Quran is provided. In ordinary days, man is so entangled in worldly affairs that worship is limited to the fulfillment of obligations, but Ramadan gives us the opportunity to stand in prayer at night, adopt patience and piety during the day, and bow before our Lord with humility.
This month reminds us that the real purpose is not filling the stomach but training the soul. If we limit this blessed month only to eating, drinking, and outward preparations, then we will be deprived of its true blessings. When Allah Almighty is displeased with His servant, He sometimes does not take away his sustenance, but rather takes away the ability to worship. Man keeps thinking that since he has worldly comforts available to him, he is in Allah's pleasure, whereas laziness in worship and negligence in prayer can also be a sign of Allah's displeasure.
Therefore, this month comes to shake us up and awaken us, and the doors of repentance are opened for us, mercies descend, and rewards are increased. Now it is up to us to make this one month a means of changing the course of our lives and remain engaged in worship day and night, make the recitation of the Holy Quran our routine, take care of voluntary prayers, and make a firm commitment to avoid sins in the future.
May Allah Almighty grant us the ability to appreciate this blessed month, grant us spiritual and physical strength, and include us among those fortunate servants who return from Ramadan-ul-Mubarak with a treasure of true forgiveness and closeness to Allah.
 Aameen.
