*I wonder what kind of people they were*

What kind of people they were and what a time it was—an era when simplicity, belonging, sincerity, love, affection, and brotherhood resided in people's hearts. Relationships were not just for the sake of names but were fulfilled from the heart. Every person considered another's pain and sorrow as their own and stood by each other in joy and grief.
Then, gradually, the times changed, circumstances shifted, priorities altered, and humans also kept changing. That love, that sincerity, that informality, and that sense of belonging slowly became a part of the past.
Previously, if someone in the neighborhood fell ill, the entire neighborhood would visit them one by one to inquire about their health. Someone would ask about their well-being, someone would pray, someone would bring medicine, and someone would sit with them for a few moments just to offer comfort. The patient would feel that they were not alone, but that the whole neighborhood was with them. But today's situation is such that sometimes for months, even years, people do not check on each other, and the sad part is that sometimes, even after hearing the news of a death, people consider their responsibility fulfilled just by sending a condolence message.
How simple people's lives used to be. Simplicity in eating and drinking, simplicity in clothing, simplicity in living, yet hearts were full of love. At that time, there were no mobile phones, no dazzle of social media, and no artificial preoccupations. As evening fell, all family members would gather in one place. Parents, paternal grandparents, and maternal grandparents would seat the children near them, fan them with hand fans, and then tell stories, parables, advice, and events of their time in a loving manner. These stories were not just for entertainment but also contained hidden precious lessons of life. Even today, when those moments are remembered, the heart sinks into a strange state.
But now neither those people remain, nor those gatherings, nor those nights, nor those stories, nor those hand fans, nor that childhood carefreeness. Mobile phones, social media, and busy lives have distanced humans from humans. Today, every person is connected to hundreds of people online but is becoming distant from their own family members.
Whenever those people are remembered, prayers spontaneously come from the heart for them. Some have departed from this world, and some are still alive, but circumstances have increased distances so much that meetings happen only once or twice a year. When a meeting occurs, the heart wishes that time would stop right there, the conversation would never end, old memories would keep being refreshed, childhood stories would be repeated, there would be laughter and jokes, and that same old atmosphere would return.
If only those days would return. If only we could live among each other again with the same informality, the same love, and the same sense of belonging. If only those elders would sit among us again, tell us stories, give us blessings, show affection, and make us laugh like in childhood. But the reality is that past days never return.
Time passes very silently. A person keeps thinking that there is still a lot of time left, but in the blink of an eye, childhood turns into youth, youth into old age, and meetings turn only into memories.
Therefore, as long as our loved ones are with us, value them, spend time with them, listen to them, love them, and create ease for them. Because when time passes, only memories remain in a person's hands, and memories can never fill someone's absence.
May Allah, the Lord of Honor, create love, sincerity, kindness to kin, and a sense of belonging in our hearts, descend His countless blessings upon our elders, and grant us the ability to value our relationships. Ameen, O Lord of the Worlds.
